Traditions

As two of my kids' summer birthdays are quickly rolling around again, the idea of traditions in our family begins to surface.  Each year we let our kids pick something to do for their birthday.  Our soon-to-be 4 year old has Monkey Joe's in mind.  For those of you who don't know what Monkey Joe's is, it is an indoors play area with slides and climbing equipment for kids.  He has been begging to go for the past several months and we keep putting him off.  His adorable dimples tug at my heart each time he mentions the place.  I have a feeling this mama just may give in.

My soon-to-be 10 year old has been spoiled by going to Wisconsin Dells each year for his birthday for the past several years.  We usually go to Noah's Ark and have pizza at the Pizza Pub just down the street from the water park.  However, now that he's going to be 10 he has moved on to bigger and better things... he now wants a weekend at Kalahari.  I'm not making any promises right now, but his eyes light up every time he talks about the place.  We still have a few weeks to go, so we'll have to see what this mama can pull out of her pocket.

My soon-to-be 6 year old keeps things simple.  He wants to go bowling.  He had his first bowling birthday party last year with a few friends from school.  Overall it was a successful party, but I was exhausted by the end of the day.

These are just a few of the traditions we have with our family.  What traditions have you started with your own?
